FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: FAQ

WHERE DO YOU TRAIN?

For in home training, we primarily, we train at your residence. For most exercises all we need is a living room size area free of clutter. If the weather is favorable, we can also train outdoors in a non-paved, flat area. For more advanced training, we may meet at a local trail or park. If you sign up for mobile training, that can be done anywhere on your schedule.

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE ANY EQUIPMENT?

For in-home personal training, I will provide any necessary equipment. The equipment usually involves a combination of dumbbells, resistance bands, medicine balls, and step boxes. For online personal training, if you do not have access to a gym, I prefer you to have a pair of dumbbells (weight varies by strength), resistance bands, a jump rope, and an adjustable weight bench. If you do not have access to all of these items, let me know what you have access to and we will customize your training accordingly.

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM A REGULAR TRAINER AT A GYM?

As a former gym trainer, I have the same experience as other gym trainers. However, the majority of gym trainers do not have the Women's Fitness Specialist certification. Personal training at a gym also costs significantly more and you don't get the same attention or customization of training. Most gym trainers will have you exercise at the gym only, but with my customized plan, you will be provided with workouts you can do even on days we don't meet.

IS THERE AN AGE RANGE FOR TRAINING?

I have trained women of all ages and life stages. As a certified Women's Fitness Specialist, I am able to work with clients over 12 years old.

DO YOU PROVIDE WORKOUT PLANS FOR DAYS WHICH WE DON'T MEET?

Definitely. Based on your goals, prior training experience, and current level of fitness, I will customize a workout plan you can do from home or at a gym. This will include the number of days to workout and the specific exercises you need to do every day.

WHAT TYPE OF GOALS DO YOU TRAIN FOR?

As a certified personal trainer, I am qualified to help you meet several goals which include, but are not limited to

  • Fat loss

  • Muscle building

  • Running goals (5k, 10k, etc.)

  • Increase flexibility and/or balance

  • Increased mobility

  • Functional training

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE TIME TO EXERCISE EVERYDAY?

Most people should not and could not go to the gym everyday. The majority of people can reach their goal by doing 20-45 minutes of exercise from home a couple times a week. Once we talk about goals, we will customize a plan that best fits your schedule.

DO YOU TRAIN MEN?

Although I have trained several men in the past, as a certified Women's Fitness Specialist, my focus is on the unique needs of female clients. However, anyone can sign up for mobile training and get the same quality of training.

HOW SOON CAN I EXPECT RESULTS?

This is a common question which will vary for each person based on your motivation, body type, age, goals, beginning health, family/friend support, and perseverance. In my own personal experience, I was able to compete in my first 5k within a few months after having my second child. After your free consultation, we can talk about your expectations and time frame. CAN I TRAIN IF I HAVE PHYSICAL RESTRICTIONS?

Yes. All I ask is that you have written documentation from your physician before your first session. The documentation should state you are fit to exercise without restrictions or outline your physical limitations.

WHY SHOULD I DO STRENGTH TRAINING? WON'T I GET "BULKY" FROM LIFTING WEIGHTS?

Strength training is essential for several reasons. First, increasing muscle mass increases metabolism. This will help you maintain or lose weight because your body will burn more calories at a faster rate. Secondly, regular strength training may help maintain or increase bone density, which reduces your chances for osteoporosis.

As for getting bulky, women who accomplish this take years and sometimes decades to obtain this physique. In addition, some women bodybuilders have to take several supplements regularly.

WHAT SHOULD BE MY GOAL?

Here is a short description of possible goals

  • Leaner - Decrease of fat mass but maintaining muscle mass

  • Fitter - Improve physical qualities for a specific sport or exercise

  • Healthier - Improving physical and or mental health to reduce or eliminate illness/injury

  • Stronger - Increasing the physical capacity to produce force in a given exercise

  • Toned - Increasing muscle mass and decreasing fat mass
